Athletics

Lawrence Academy values the team experience: being part of something bigger than yourself, part of a cohesive group working toward a common goal.

As such, athletics are an integral part of the school’s mission, and a natural extension of the classroom experience, promoting healthy mind, body, and character. Sports teach teamwork, of course, but also how to handle and overcome adversity, and how to deal with failure and learn from mistakes.

Spartan athletic programs provide opportunities for all student-athletes with varying skill levels to experience exercise, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth. We field varsity, junior varsity, and thirds teams in a variety of sports, so student-athletes can compete intensely in their favorite sports or branch out and try an entirely new one. Students who want to be part of a team but aren’t necessarily interested in playing can take on the role of team manager / scorekeeper.
"We believe that athletics help students understand the rewards that come with hard work and play, as well as the importance of working with teammates to find both group and individual success."
